Bjarte Trettenes appointed Editor in Chief of DN Media Group’s seafood and aquaculture publications

Oslo, 15 May 2026 – DN Media Group has appointed Bjarte Rylandsholm Trettenes as Editor-in-Chief of its seafood and aquaculture publications, with editorial responsibility for Intrafish, Fiskeribladet and the group’s wider seafood coverage in Norway and internationally.

Trettenes brings more than two decades of experience in broadcast and digital journalism, with a strong track record in editorial leadership and digital transformation. His experience will be critical as DN Media Group’s seafood titles grow international reach, deliver valued information to their audience and sharpen competitiveness with independent quality journalism.

“I am delighted that Bjarte will lead our coverage of fishing and aquaculture at a time of heightened reader interest in the world’s oceans, sustainability and food security. He has great strengths of expert knowledge of the seafood industry, first-hand application of media technologies and tested leadership skills,” says James Lamont, CEO of DN Media Group.

“Seafood is a top strategic focus for DN Media Group, alongside shipping and energy, where we successfully leverage Norwegian and global expertise to meet the needs of an international audience. Bjarte takes over from Øystein Hage, whose leadership has contributed greatly to advancing DN Media Group’s position as a highly respected source of fishing news and insight. Readers will now benefit from Øystein’s expertise as a senior commentator.”

Trettenes returns to DN Media Group in Bergen after two years at US-based Avid Technology, where he served as Senior Project Manager on Wolftech, advising major international media organisations on newsroom planning, workflow and editorial collaboration. He previously held senior editorial roles at Fiskeribladet and Intrafish, including a period as Interim Editor-in-Chief across Fiskeribladet, Intrafish and Kystens Næringsliv. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership positions at TV 2 Norway and at Bergens Tidende.

“Several of the world’s largest seafood companies are run from Norway, which means what happens here is of interest globally - and the other way around,” says Trettenes. “Our publications are well-positioned for that, and I’m looking forward to working with the teams in Bergen, Oslo, London and the US to make the most of it.”
